I think a lot of times people have this apprehension that lawyers are like used car salesmen. We’re just interested in selling you the service and then that’s it. You’re forgotten, you’re discarded and it’s on to the next client. And I can’t and I never have practiced law that way, I won’t do that. I really empathize with people and I think it comes from life experience. The most important thing is to really listen. Most lawyers in my experience are very good at talking, but listening, not so much. I think that’s a real skill. Probably one of the most important ones, because if the lawyer doesn’t listen, how can he or she accurately convey the story, your story, to a judge or to a jury? It’s impossible.
